e: mom, I'm wearing my butterfly flip-flops today.
m: no, honey, you can't wear flip-flops to school-it's the rule.
e: well, that's okay, I'll just break the rule.
m: (thinking: oh lord, that's what I would have said)
no ella, rules are in place to be followed, please change your shoes.
e: oh, alright-I'll wear my purple crocs instead.

Reminds me of the time Cara was in 4th grade I think. I was dropping her off at school and noticed she had make-up on. I told her she was too young to wear make-up to school. She of course said she wasn't. I told her if she was old enough, she would have known better to put it on at school so I wouldn't have seen it!
Cara's Mom
And we had the argument this morning that they couldn't wear crocs to school! ;)
